ㅤpersonalityㅤㅤVeritas is a off standish, untrusting, and egotistical viera. He does not trust easily, if at all. Almost always keeping people at an arms length until he can discern the "truth" about them. He's stubborn and often leans towards insulting others when he doesn't get his way, or just for the hell of it. While he may be smart, his hubris fails to let him notice his inadequacy in combat... leading him to some predicaments.

ㅤbiographyㅤㅤHailing from Tuliyollal under two loving parents Veritas grew up in what most would consider a dream life. His curiosities for the world around him could not be satiated though. Especially when it came to magic--to aether. There was so much he didn't know, and after hearing that one of Dawnservant's children had gone to Old Sharlayan to further his studies he decided that he should do the same.

Veritas main study is that of Aetherology, and he spends a lot of time and money traveling to further his understanding of the complex subject. Along the way he also picked up the art of the Scholar and Summoner--eventually planning to learn more. With this newfound way to channel magic, his hubris leads him to believe that he can start traveling into the more...dangerous parts of the world by himself and get by.

Going to Thavnair and getting his ass beat into the ground. After that humiliation he returned to Sharlayan with a scowl and a vengeance to prove himself capable in his line of work. He was so focused he did not notice a large, au'ran man coming his way. The other man seemingly did not notice the fuming viera and the two ended up bumping into each other. Mid-insult Veritas stopped, realizing that this man was exactly what he needed to go back to Thavnair and continue his research in peace. He learned that this man's name was Kaya Dorthal and the two of them partnered up. A knight and his charge, soon becoming something more.

ㅤa bold academicㅤ
Most academics are soft-spoken or quiet, but Veritas has never been afraid to speak his mind or his truth. He will enter a socratic lecture with a plan and points to go through. People who debate with him are scared of the way he can so elegantly layer insults into his more logical points. So much so that it's become a point of contempt as to whether they should tell him to be nicer to his opponents or let him continue because of the entertainment it brings.

ㅤbookworm to a faultㅤ
Though he likes to claim himself a neat and orderly person his collection of books would boast otherwise. Books line shelves, tables, and the floor of his abode in Sharlayan. He's obsessed with these works of literary art and reads and reorganizes them on a consistent basis. His partner, Kaya, usually feeds into this by gifting his beloved books while they're on the road. So many that oftentimes he has to protect the bag of literature alongside his charge since he knows Veritas cares about them so much.

ㅤtrust issues & lonelinessㅤ
Veritas believes in truth over all, yet his standards for discerning it are quite high. So no one ever fully meets them. This leads him to being quite the lonely person. Only ever keeping people at an arms length. At least until they breach that almost impenetrable shield of his that keeps people out of his paranoid sphere.

ㅤinsatiable curiosityㅤ
Both as a scholar and a person he is curious about the world around him. Despite this he hasn't actually traveled the world that much! Mostly sticking to the places outside of Eorzea. So he would love to learn more about other cultures. Specifically that of the people of Kugane and Azim Steppe (which may or may not have been influenced by his partner).
